In 1988, Lynda Raven Brake received a BFA degree in Studio Art from Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. After graduation she spent 14 years living and working in New Mexico where she painted the land and its people. Lynda had her work in various Texas and New Mexico galleries. She was a signature member of the New Mexico Watercolor Society and their exhibit chair for two years. In 1999, She also received a masters degree in Art Therapy from Southwestern College in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Lynda believes in Art as Therapy.
Lynda moved to Vancouver, Washington 18 years ago. She is an active member of the Oregon Society of Artists and a Juried Member of the Southwest Washington Watercolor Society where she was chair for Arts in the Community for two years. She is a Signature member of the Northwest Watercolor Society and has been in two of their Open International Shows and one member show.

Lynda's watercolor paintings are in the Spring and Fall shows of the Southwest Washington Watercolor Society in Vancouver, Washington. Also, her paintings have won awards in the shows of the Society of Washington Artists. In May 2016 Lynda had one-person shows at Three Creeks Library and at the Office of Right2Be Heard in Vancouver, Washington. From the one-person shows Lynda received commissions for art work. Life has changed for Lynda since her husband passed away in August 2017. She moved out of her home into senior living and only during the last two years continued with art shows. 2022-2023 Art work was in Southwest Washington Watercolor Society Spring Show 2022 Honorable Mention 2023 Honorable Mention. Fall 2023 placed third place in show. Washington Society of Artists 2022 Honorable Mention. Rose Show Oregon Society of Artists 2022 sold Rose painting 2023 received honorable mention and painting sold. In January 2024 planning for Rose Show in June. The Sketch of the rose is ready for color.
During The pandemic no shows or art classes happened. Some Online shows were available like The Society of Washington Artists. Lynda tried to expand her art world by taking an oil portrait workshop. She had not done oils for 25 years but enjoyed getting back to oil painting again. Lynda has taken this workshop again in April 2023.
